Penny would NEVER rip up a plant and spread the dirt everywhere… just look at that face…

3 of the 5 Golden pups that Champ and Cookie had 6 months ago were reunited today in Georgetown at the Bark Park. We had so much fun watching them run, play, and get dirty!

Here they are, left to right: Champ, Cookie (back to us) Jed (looking up), Buddy (on the bench) and Penny (facing us). The white Pomeranian is Coconut, who lives with Jed’s family.

All the dogs enjoyed the muddy dog water spot. Buddy sat right down to cool off, but the edge was as far as Jed could get. : ) Penny and Cookie just laid right down into the muddy water at the edge.

After a picnic lunch, Pennygirl had had so much fun that she passed out in the back seat on the way home! Thank you Lord for such sweet, furry additions to our families.

Okay, I guess this is only funny if you speak Spanish…. But have you ever heard about the man who came into a store to find something he needed, but didn’t know any English? He asked the clerk if they had what he needed, but the clerk had to guess what item he was referring to… He held up a jug of milk to see if that’s what the man needed, but the man just shook his head.

The clerk guessed a few more times until he held up a pair of socks. “¡Eso si que es!” Exclaimed the Spanish-speaking customer with a big smile. (Translated: “Yes, that’s it!”) “Well, why didn’t you just spell it in the first place?!” Exclaimed the clerk.

Ha! That’s funny because the Spanish is pronounced “S  O  C  K   S.” Hee, yeah…

Penny is now 5 months old! Her favorite things include: neighbors, other dogs, peanut butter, mommy and daddy, the bathtub, and the delicate art of sock-snatching. : )

Penny sure keeps us on our toes! She is snuggly and soft, spunky and sweet! Penny will never miss an opportunity to greet a neighbor – dog or human. She is even starting to catch on about going potty outside only! We were a little concerned at first about the 3 flights of concrete stairs, but she navigates them like a pro already.

She’s up and ready for a walk at 6:30am! Lucky for this little girl, she has 2 adopted back yards that we visit twice a week…

Penny sits for food and treats and gives kisses. We are so proud of our little wooly one! : )

So this past Saturday, after we returned from camp, Cheryl and I picked up our puppy from her parents’ house! Her name is Penny, and she’s a golden retriever. She is 9 weeks old or so, and thus still very much a baby. We have to take her out just about every hour to prevent accidents, and even with our diligence, we are often down on the floor scrubbing. But, being just a puppy still, its hard to get too upset with her. 

I took her out at about 5:45a.m. for a potty break, and then she simply wouldn’t go back to sleep. We tried to get back to sleep, but she wouldn’t settle down, so I got up and took her for a walk. I just got a new phone the other day, so I messed around with audio options as we walked, and took a couple photos. Penny and I stopped at a little playground area after about 20 minutes or so and I tested out my camera.

Champ and Cookie had their first litter of puppies today, April 2nd 2008!

Benjamin and I can not wait to get to know these tiny fellas and choose a sweet furry friend of our own…
